Ingredients
  

Pesto Ingredients
  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves packed
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled
  • ¼ cup pine nuts lightly toasted
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper or to taste

Method
 

Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Wash the basil leaves thoroughly and pat them dry.
  2. Toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
Blend the Pesto
  1. In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, garlic, toasted pine nuts, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  2. Pulse until finely chopped.
  3. With the processor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Serve
  1. Transfer the pesto to a serving bowl and enjoy with pasta, bread, or as a dip.

Notes

Pesto can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. To prevent browning, drizzle a thin layer of olive oil on top before sealing.
