Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups blackberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch for thickening
Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick unsalted butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss gently to coat the blackberries evenly.
Prepare the Topping
  1. In another bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Pour the blackberry mixture into a greased baking dish. Spoon the topping mixture over the blackberries, spreading it evenly.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Serve
  1. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
