Ingredients
  

Dumpling Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk or buttermilk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
Blackberry Filling
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • ¼ cup sugar adjust based on sweetness preference
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water

Method
 

Prepare the Blackberry Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Gently toss to coat and set aside.
Make the Dumpling Dough
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Cook the Dumplings
  1. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a simmer.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough into the simmering water. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes until dumplings are fluffy.
Serve
  1. Remove dumplings and place them in a serving dish. Spoon blackberry filling over the top and drizzle with the sauce.
