Ingredients

Brioche Custard Base
Toasted Pecan Praline Streusel

Method

Prepping Bread & Custard
  1. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish generously with butter. Spread cubed brioche bread evenly across the prepared dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, vigorously whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sea salt until completely smooth and frothy.
  3. Pour custard slowly and evenly over the bread cubes, pressing gently with a spatula so all bread absorbs the rich liquid. Let soak for at least 20 minutes (or cover tightly and refrigerate overnight).
Pecan Streusel & Baking
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small bowl, stir together chopped pecans, dark brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon until crumbly and coated.
  2. Scatter the pecan streusel evenly over the soaked brioche casserole.
  3. Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 45 minutes until puffed, golden brown, and center is softly set without liquid jiggle.
Resting & Serving
  1. Rest casserole for 8 to 10 minutes to allow custard to settle into sliceable tenderness.
  2. Dust lightly with powdered sugar and serve warm with a generous pour of pure maple syrup.
