Ingredients
  

Fruits
  • 2 cups fresh cherries pitted and halved
Sweeteners
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
Acid
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice freshly squeezed
Pectin
  • 1 package fruit pectin optional, for thicker jam

Method
 

Prepare the cherries
  1. Wash the cherries thoroughly, remove the pits, and halve them.
Cook the jam
  1. In a saucepan, combine the cherries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
  3. If using pectin, add it according to package instructions during the boiling process.
Jar the jam
  1. Remove the saucepan from heat and ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars. Seal the jars while hot.

Notes
