Ingredients

  • 1 pound raw shrimp peeled and deveined
Vegetables
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice about 8-10 limes
  • 1 medium red onion finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato diced
  • 1 medium cucumber peeled and diced
  • 1 small jalapeño finely chopped, seeds removed for less heat
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro chopped
Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper to taste

Method
 

Prepare the Shrimp
  1. Chop the raw shrimp into small pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Pour the fresh lime juice over the shrimp, ensuring they are fully submerged. Let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes until the shrimp turns opaque.
Mix the Ingredients
  1. Add the chopped red onion, tomato, cucumber, jalapeño, and cilantro to the marinated shrimp.
  2. Season with salt and black pepper, then gently mix everything together.
Serve
  1. Let the ceviche sit for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Serve chilled in a serving dish, garnished with extra cilantro if desired.

Notes

Ceviche is best served fresh. You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less jalapeño.
