Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries hulled and chopped
  • 4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 packet pectin optional for thicker jam

Method
 

Prepare the Strawberries
  1. Wash and hull the strawberries, then chop them into small pieces.
  2. Place the chopped strawberries in a large pot.
Cook the Jam
  1. Add the sugar and lemon juice to the pot with strawberries.
  2. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Increase the heat to high and bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Boil for about 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  5. If using pectin, add it according to the package instructions.
Jar the Jam
  1. Remove the pot from heat and ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars.
  2. Seal the jars with lids and allow them to cool at room temperature.
