Ingredients
  

Meats
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage Remove from casings
  • 1 lb Pork shoulder Cut into chunks
Vegetables
  • 1 large Onion Chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 carrot Carrot Chopped
  • 1 celery stalk Celery Chopped
Tomatoes
  • 2 cans Crushed tomatoes 28 oz each
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato paste
  • 1 cup Red wine Optional
Herbs and spices
  • 1 tablespoon Dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes Optional
  • 1 tablespoon Salt To taste
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper To taste
Other
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil For sautéing
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese Grated, for serving

Method
 

Prepare the meats
  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, Italian sausage, and pork shoulder. Brown the meats on all sides.
Sauté vegetables
  1. Add chopped onion, garlic, carrot, and celery to the pot. Sauté until vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
Add tomatoes and seasonings
  1. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Add oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
Simmer the sauce
  1. Bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cover. Let it simmer for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Serve
  1. Serve the sauce over your favorite pasta and top with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes
