Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two heart-shaped cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter until fluffy. Gradually add sugar and mix until light.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time followed by vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely on wire racks before frosting with whipped heavy cream mixed with powdered sugar.
